ABOUT MICKEY WELLINGTON
Mickey Wellington is an aspiring young musician currently residing in Mandaue City, Cebu.
Born Lorence Miggy Sorongon on the 24th of April 2005 in General Santos City, his childhood goes around with music, since he was raised with relatives who are into music. Notably, in his life, his grandfather was the one who moved him so much that made him start writing songs since he would spin records like The Beatles, which he admired the songwriting of John Lennon (in particular) and Paul McCartney, and he would even spin a lot of Elvis Presley records, which got his inspiration of his showmanship, charisma, style and appearance.
He started to sing since he was very little, and he learns how to play musical instruments at the age of 2 years old, with piano/keyboards as his first instrument, and later on at the age of 5 years old, started to learn how to play the drums. He got his first ukulele when he was on fifth grade, and started writing his first songs when he was sixth grade. Though his beginnings were filled with troubles, he never gave up pursuing his dreams of being a musician.
When he was on his tenth grade, he pursued his music career and started to write songs, but his troubled life and unhealthy lifestyle hindered him to create good music, until he met Dej McShtarrilen, who he wrote songs with since then, and 'Silly Sunny Shoes' was their first major songwriting collaboration. It was not that successful, but it was okay. Then, he met another songwriter named Elyse Perreras, who wrote 'Our Favorite Seat' and other songs like 'It's Just A Dream' with Mickey, which got his first airplay on DJWE 88.1FM Radyo Pangasinan that stepped up his career.
He was the leader, one of the former founders and musician of the Merseybeat band, "TiDE" (formerly Östra Fältskog), where he had a very troubled life. He took a break in the music scene on July 2022 until March 2024.
At the moment, Mickey is back making records, and is about to showcase his musical works in the music scene. His plans on releasing solo material is about to come, reviving 1950s rock and roll, rhythm and blues and the Memphis music to the newer generations. That gives him the title by his current manager, Bern Geottina, "Mickey Wellington: a young man with an old soul."
